Who am I?

My name is Daiana and I am the founder of Sleep and Roots. For more than 15 years, I have worked with children as a teacher, and for over 7 years I have also supported families as a nanny.

Throughout these years, I have had the opportunity to care for children of different ages and to accompany families from many different backgrounds and cultures.

Across all these experiences, I kept noticing something that came up again and again: sleep.

Families who were exhausted. Parents who weren’t sure what to do. Children who were struggling to sleep, or who seemed to need more support than their families had expected. And parents wondering if there was a way to improve sleep without having to ignore their child’s needs or step away from the way they wanted to parent.
That question stayed with me.

It led me to learn more about infant and child sleep, to look deeper into child development, and eventually to specialise in both sleep consulting and respectful parenting, so I could support families through either one, or both.
I believe sleep doesn’t happen separately from the rest of a child’s development.

The way a child sleeps can be influenced by their age, development, temperament, environment, routines, relationships and the changes happening in their everyday life.

That’s why I don’t believe there is one perfect method, one magic solution or one way that every family should approach sleep or parenting.
Instead, I want to understand your child, your family and what is happening right now.

It doesn’t have to mean choosing between rest and closeness.
Sometimes, we simply need to find a different way of being there.
